Osteoporosis affects the trabecular bone areas on the ends of the long bones as well as the irregular shaped bones. This honey comb like tissue, that has already been produced, thins out in osteoporosis and the bones are more susceptible to sudden fracture. Osteomalacia is softening of the bones throughout the bone tissue. This may affect the long bone shafts as well. The bones are not able to be built as effectively due to Vitamin D deficiency.
