Answer to Question 1

c

Answer to Question 2

The muscle cells will first draw up glycogen and break it down into glucose to begin producing ATP energy in the mitochondria. Once pyruvate is produced, the muscle cells can then break down fats, using beta-oxidation. This will supply the TCA (Krebs) cycle with acetyl Co-A molecules and will help the mitochondria produce more ATP. The liver and muscle tissue only has a finite amount of glycogen present. The diet must supply enough fat and carbohydrate to ensure adequate stores of fat and glycogen to be used by the muscles.
