The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology states that approximately 3 million adults in the United States report allergy to peanuts and tree nuts (almonds, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, and walnuts). Another 6 million report an allergy to fish and shellfish. The most common food allergens in infants and children are cow's milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, and shellfish.
