Answer to Question 1

A

Answer to Question 2

What does it mean to blame the victim? 1 point for any of the following:
- We think that if something bad happens to someone, it must be their fault
- We believe that people bring misfortunes onto themselves even if it really wasn't their fault
- We blame the victim for some negative event even when it really wasn't their fault

Why does this occur? 1 point for any of the following:
- People seem to have the need to believe the world is fair; if something bad happens, it must be their fault
- We are threatened by the idea of random bad events because if something really is random it might happen to us, so we make ourselves feel better by saying that such a thing won't happen to us because we're careful
- The just-world hypothesis: blaming the victim makes the world make sense
- Lots of times people do bring misfortune onto themselves because of self-defeating behavior; why should this be any different?
