- Verbal and nonverbal responses
- Appropriate gestures or touching
- Ask open-ended questions
- Paraphrase
- Don't try to problem-solve unless asked to
- Avoid distractions
Speaking: 2 points for any four of the following:
- Be congruentverbal and nonverbal match
- When giving an opinion use I statements
- Do an appropriate amount of self disclosure
- Be specific and direct
- Repeat the message as needed
