Answer to Question 1

There are many possible answers here, but answers should mention various
cultural, familial, and economic factors. Social isolation and poverty are considered
two of the most powerful predictors of maltreatment. The student should show in
their answers a good understanding of primary, secondary, and tertiary risk
prevention.

Answer to Question 2

Responses will vary, but should include specific signs of maltreatment and their
effects on development. Each sign and developmental effect should be addressed.
Refer to Table 8.1 on p. 230, Signs of Maltreatment in Children Aged 2 to 10.
