good nutrition and prenatal care, who smokes, drinks, and has had a short interval
between children. Risks can be reduced by avoidance of drugs, good nutrition, and
good prenatal care beginning as soon as pregnancy is confirmed.

Behavioral teratogens are substances and conditions that increase the risk of harm
to the brain. Consequences of exposure to behavioral teratogens include
hyperactivity, learning disabilities, and antisocial behavior.
