how does increasing the mass of the counterweight affect the velocity at which the projectile is thrown, and how does this affect its trajectory?
how does increasing counterweight affect the time the sling slips off the release pin?
How does the increased mass make the counterweight fall faster?

The force applied by the counterweight or the projectile is its mass times its acceleration due to gravity. More counterweight mass = more force. More counterweight force = faster acceleration of the projectile.
