Children rely on heuristics that tend to be fast and require little effort for problem solving which adolescents are more likely to solve problems analyticallydetermi ning an answer mathematically or logically depending on the nature of the problem. The development of logical reasoning allows adolescents to pinpoint flaws in arguments. The development of scientific reasoning allows adolescents to recognize weaknesses in scientific evidence.
