Answer to Question 1

a

Answer to Question 2

The HPG axis consists of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and gonads. At puberty, the hypothalamus signals the pituitary gland to release hormones that stimulate the gonads (ovaries or testes) to produce sex hormones (estrogen or testosterone). As levels of the sex hormones rise in the bloodstream, feedback occurs to the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, which regulate the production of gonadal hormones.
