Answer to Question 1

S = Capital punishment supporter
F = Female
M = Male
P(S  F) = P(S  F)  P(F) = (0.46 )(0.48 ) = 0.2208
Since P(S) = P(S  F) + P(S  M)  0.64 = 0.2208 + P(S  M), then, P(S  M) = 0.4192

Answer to Question 2

The largest value (currently 424 ) could be increased by any amount. Doing so will not change the fact that the middle two observations are 366 and 369, and hence, the median will not change. However, the value x = 424 cannot be changed to a number less than 369 (a change of 424 - 369 = 53 since that will lower the values(s) of the two middle observations.

Though Candida and Aspergillus species are the most common fungal pathogens causing invasive fungal disease in the immunocompromised, infections due to previously uncommon hyaline and dematiaceous filamentous fungi are occurring more often today. Rare fungal infections, once accurately diagnosed, may require surgical debridement, immunotherapy, and newer antifungals used singly or in combination with older antifungals, on a case-by-case basis.
