Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed nonskin cancer in men in the United States with a lifetime risk for diagnosis currently estimated at 15.9. The incidence varies greatly world-wide, but it is still considered to be the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men and the sixth leading cause of death worldwide. Black men are more greatly affected. Rates have been declining.

Salivary amylase initiates the digestion of carbohydrates. Protein digestion occurs in the stomach and is influenced by pepsin. Fat digestion is aided by bile. Amino acids are not involved in the digestive process.
