Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
High HDL cholesterol is actually believed to be protective (the so-called good cholesterol). All the other listed findings are risk factors for thrombosis.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Although DIC is a thrombotic process, the thrombi that form are small and ineffective, so systemic hemorrhage is often the first or most apparent symptom. Acute DIC can have severe hemorrhaging and is often fatal, requiring immediate medical intervention.
