DNA has been isolated from appropriate cells and placed in an aqueous buffer. If molecular testing cannot be immediately performed, what should be done?
 
  a. Reprecipitate the DNA using isoproponol alcohol and then store at 4 C

Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
If isolated DNA cannot be immediately evaluated for molecular testing, it should be stored at -80 C. The prepared DNA can be stored for an indefinite period of time and still give valid results.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
Contamination of reagents, controls, and samples with extraneous DNA from the environment is possible when performing molecular testing. Thus a no DNA control must be run along with the controls and samples to validate the analysis.
