Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Approximately 70 of total body iron is found in hemoglobin. Another 25 is stored as ferritin or hemosiderin in macrophages, and about 5 is found in myoglobin. The remainder is found primarily in iron-containing enzymes. A small amount is bound to iron for transport.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Infants and young children need more iron to support an expanding erythron.
