Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
When iron is deficient, the concentration of transferrin receptors increases. They are decreased in chronic disease. Erythropoietin and transferrin concentration do not affect the concentration of transferrin receptors.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Only the insoluble form of storage iron, which is hemosiderin, stains with the Prussian blue stain. Ferritin is soluble and is not stained.
