Answer: The four major phospholipids that are found in the plasma membrane are phosphatidylethanol amine (PE), phosphatidylserine (PS), phosphatidylcholine (PC), and sphingomyelin (SM). Most blood cells have an asymmetric distribution of these phospholipids, with PE and PS occurring in the inner layer and PC and SM occurring in the outer layer.
