Answer to Question 1

A
Sitting with the patient and offering oneself to listen to the patient's concerns and encouraging reflection is the best approach rather than responding with a clich or suggesting speaking with the chaplain.

Answer to Question 2

B
Distraction is helpful with pain control between administration of the analgesia and its onset. Mealtimes, bedtime, and sleep should not be interrupted with distraction activities.
