Women are considered menopausal if they have not had a menstrual cycle for 12 months. A perimenopausal state may exist prior to actual menopause.

Erectile dysfunction has been associated with diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, chronic renal failure, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease. Erectile dysfunction has not been associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
