Adequate vitamin D is necessary for absorption of calcium into the bloodstream. Vitamins A, C, and E do not have a role in calcium regulation.

Aldosterone and cortisol are released by the adrenal cortex. The adrenal medulla releases epinephrine and norepinephrine. Calcitonin and parathyroid hormone are released by the thyroid and parathyroid, respectively. Prolactin and luteinizing hormone are anterior pituitary hormones.
