Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1
Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) allows visualization of the left atrium for thrombus. Pericardiocentesis is a procedure to remove fluid from the pericardial sac. Cardiac catheterization is used to identify coronary artery disease (CAD) or valve disease, measure pulmonary artery or heart chamber pressures, obtain a biopsy, evaluate artificial valves, or perform angioplasty or stent an area in the coronary arteries. A computed tomography (CT) scan can show calcium deposits in coronary arteries.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1
For the treadmill test, the patient should be asked to wear comfortable shoes. Slippers may not be safe; secure shoes should be worn because speed is increased during the test. Smoking is discouraged prior to testing. The patient should be instructed to avoid food and fluids for 2 to 3 hours before the test.
