Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1
Tinea pedis is a fungal infection of the soles of the feet, toes, and toenails. The condition is chronic, and can be seen more when the feet are hot and perspire. Wearing of open-style shoes such as sandals would allow the feet to be open to air. Cotton undergarments would not impact tinea pedis. They could assist in the management of tinea corporis. Salt water is not associated with the management of tinea pedis. Lotions would increase moisture to the areas and potentially cause additional problems.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 1
The chronic form of paronychia (an infection of the cuticle of the fingernails or toenails) is seen most often in people who have frequent exposure to water. Construction workers, painters, and carpenters could develop paronychia from trauma and subsequent secondary infection related to the employment, but they are more likely to have an acute form that begins with painful inflammation and may progress to an abscess.
