1. Physical therapy is not appropriate immediately following the injury as it will add to the swelling.
2. A low-sodium diet will not help the swelling because swelling is due to the body's inflammatory response.
3. NSAIDs will assist with decreasing inflammation and controlling pain.
4. Diuretics are given to reduce swelling from excess fluid retention, not the inflammation due to injury.

1. A compound fracture is one with the skin broken through and the bone is protruding.
2. An unstable bone moves.
3. Compound, unstable complete fractures are repaired in surgery.
4. A complete fracture means that the bone is completely severed.
