Answer to Question 1

Answer: B

The ANA Code of Ethics is a guide for nurses in their work with clients and other professionals. There is also an International Code of Ethics promulgated by the International Council of Nurses. Each profession has its own code of ethics. State laws regarding nursing are the basis of lawsuits, not the Code of Ethics.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: A

Minorities in the United States will likely be the majority by the year 2042. By becoming proficient at other languages, such as Spanish, the nurse will be better able to meet the needs of the clients who seek care within the community. The largest group of clients will be age 65 or older in the near future, so an extra class about an aging population would be more helpful than a class about children or young adults. The student might consider a class on the effects of finance and cost in the delivery of health care rather than personal finance.
