Answer to Question 1

Answer: A

When teaching a client, the nurse considers that most people learn and retain information if the information is immediately useful. Some clients can find information on their own; however, not all information that the client can find is factual. All clients need to be evaluated to ensure that the right information was retained. Adults will not necessarily adhere to a regimen more than children will. It is the effective teaching and the client's readiness to learn that helps with adherence.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: B, C, D

A profession is generally distinguished from other kinds of occupations by (a) its requirement of prolonged, specialized training to acquire a body of knowledge that supports the role to be performed; (b) an orientation of the individual toward service, either to a community or to an organization; (c) ongoing research; (d) a code of ethics; (e) autonomy; and (f) a professional organization. Socializing with other nurses and being economically responsible are not included in the criteria for distinguishing nursing as a profession.
