Answer to Question 1

Answer: A, D, E

The nurse should provide information to the client regarding ECT treatment for depression. ECT will not cure depression. It is often used in conjunction with psychotherapy and medication therapy. Short term memory loss is expected but long term memory loss is not. The treatment is known to help some people who experiencing depression, but not all. The client must be NPO for 4 hour prior to receiving ECT treatment.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: D

Sleep disturbances are common during the grieving period. This client is unable to grieve openly for her lost relationship, as extramarital affairs are not socially sanctioned. Abbreviated grieving is grieving that is brief but genuinely felt. This client's grief is not yet chronic, as only 3 weeks have passed. External grieving is not a recognized type of grief response.
