Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 2
The knee and elbows are hinge joints; the thumbs are saddle joints; the neck is a pivot joint; the intercarpals and intertarsals are plane joints.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 4
A hallux valgus, or bunion, causes a deviation of the great toe from the midline, and crowding of the remaining toes. The metatarsophalangeal joint and bursa become enlarged and inflamed. In pes planus, or flat foot, the arch of the foot is flattened, sometimes coming in contact with the floor. In gouty arthritis the metatarsophalangeal joint of the great toe is swollen, hot, red, and extremely painful. Hammertoe produces flexion of the proximal interphalangeal joint of a toe, while the distal metatarsophalangeal joint hyperextends.

Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.

Though Candida and Aspergillus species are the most common fungal pathogens causing invasive fungal disease in the immunocompromised, infections due to previously uncommon hyaline and dematiaceous filamentous fungi are occurring more often today. Rare fungal infections, once accurately diagnosed, may require surgical debridement, immunotherapy, and newer antifungals used singly or in combination with older antifungals, on a case-by-case basis.
