Acquired immunityresponse to a specific antigen/pathogen; passive acquired immunity occurs when a person receives protective substance produced by another human or animal such as antibodies traveling from mother to fetus; active acquired immunity develops following direct exposure to the pathogenic agent such as having the chickenpox or receiving a vaccination
