The American College of Rheumatology (ACR) has identified specific criteria for fibromyalgia. How many trigger points are there? How many trigger points must be present to be classified as fibromyalgia?

Answer to Question 1

The ACR classifies a patient as having fibromyalgia if at least 11 of 18 specific areas of the body are painful under pressure. Another criterion is that the patient must have had wide-spread pain lasting at least three months.
