Due to interference with sensory perceptions with epidural anesthesia, the urinary bladder can fill without it being sensed and then become distended. Thrombophlebitis is not a common adverse effect of epidural anesthesia. Placenta accreta is not associated with epidural anesthesia. Maternal hypotension is a complication of epidural anesthesia, but not hypertension.
