Lightening is the movement of the presenting part of the fetus into the true pelvis. Nesting refers to the energy spurt many pregnant women experience 24 to 48 hours before the onset of labor. Presentation refers to how the fetus is presenting (which body part is positioned to deliver first). Station refers to the relationship between the ischial spines in the passage and the presenting part of the fetus.
