Answer to Question 1

A
Ductus arteriosus is the fetal shunt that shunts blood from the pulmonary artery to the descending aorta, bypassing the lungs. Ductus venosus is the fetal shunt that shunts blood from the liver to the inferior vena cava, bypassing the liver. Foramen ovale is the opening between the fetal atria to bypass the lungs, and the umbilical vein is the vessel that transports maternal blood from the placenta to the fetus.

Answer to Question 2

D
The best approach to counseling a woman whom you suspect is being abused is to first assess the situation by asking the woman if she has ever been physically hurt by someone. The nurse needs to assess the situation first, not just suspect. Calling the woman at home to ask her some questions about her marriage is not an appropriate intervention. Waiting until the nurse sees the woman a few more times to make a better assessment may be too late to prevent harm.
