Answer to Question 2

C
Early pregnancy classes give information about fetal development, nutrition, and the needs of the family in early pregnancy. Most women are so excited about being pregnant that they hang on to every word of the instructor. The preparation-for-childbirth classes cover topics such as the birthing process, anesthesia, and cesarean birth. Most women read everything about childbirth in anticipation of the actual birth. In the birthing facility, women receive more infant-care information than they can absorb in the short time available. New mothers may have physical needs and anxieties that interfere with their abilities to learn. By the time the traditional 6-week checkup occurs, the woman and her family have had time to adjust to the new baby. They have experienced many of the newborn's problems already.
