Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Corticosteroids such as betamethasone and dexamethasone may be given to the mother in preterm labor to promote lung maturity in a fetus of less than 34 weeks' gestation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
When the patient is dehydrated, the pituitary secretes ADH to retain fluid in the kidneys and secretes oxytocin, which stimulates uterine contractions. The goal in managing preterm patients is to suppress contractions and delay delivery.
