Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
Because seizures may still occur with severe gestational hypertension for the first 48 hours postpartum, the same frequent and careful assessments are done.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Absent deep tendon reflexes is a symptom of magnesium sulfate toxicity. The other findings are within normal limits. Symptoms of magnesium sulfate toxicity require immediate discontinuation of the drug and administration of the antidote. Respiratory ventilation support may be needed until the central nervous system depressant effects of the drug wear off.
