Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Hypertension and proteinuria are the most common signs of gestational hypertension. Hemolysis, glycosuria, and thrombocytopenia are associated with other disorders that may or may not be related to gestational hypertension. Although headaches and rapid weight gain (edema) may be associated with gestational hypertension, they are not the earliest nor the most common signs and symptoms.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a coagulation defect that prevents blood from clotting. It can occur with abruptio placentae, hydatidiform mole, pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhagic shock, septic shock, and retained dead fetus.

Although the Roman numeral for the number 4 has always been taught to have been "IV," according to historians, the ancient Romans probably used "IIII" most of the time. This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
