Midwifery practice is the independent management of women's health care, focusing on pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and family planning/gynecological needs. CNMs see healthy women experiencing an uncomplicated pregnancy. These women experience a lower rate of cesarean births and medical interventions. Continuity of prenatal care has a major effect on patient satisfaction.
