Standardized variables are generated by subtracting the mean of a variable from each observation and multiplying the result by the standard deviation of that variable.

Standardized variables are found generated by subtracting the mean of a variable from each observation and dividing the result by the standard deviation of that variable.

Answer to Question 2

A brand is different than a product because a brand has value above and beyond the product itself. A brand invokes certain images associated with it. A brand has a portfolio of qualities associated with the name.
