Answer to Question 1

A mission statement defines the purpose of an organization; it guides the development of a company's strategy. A vision statement is more specific in terms of setting objectives and time frames; it is developed after a mission statement is developed.

Answer to Question 2

A company that is proactive is willing to take action before environmental pressure forces a strategy or action.
