 For nominal data, multinomial regression is used (and/or multinomial logit or discrete choice).
 For rank-ordered data, rank-ordered or exploded regression is used.
 For count data, Poisson or count regression is used.

An e-mail can include a hyperlink within the body of an e-mail that directs the respondent to a website that contains the questionnaire, in essence, making the e-mail an Internet survey at this point.
