Non-sampling error refers to all errors that may occur in the research process over and above the sampling error, including those arising from both inadvertent mistakes and deliberate deceptions. Specific types of non-sampling error include faulty problem definition, incorrect population definition, sampling frame non-representative of the population, non-response errors, poor questionnaire design, measurement error, and improper causal inferences.
