Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

A company that uses intermediaries in its own home-country is likely not to be as involved in managing the marketing mix in the country where the target market is located. Home-country intermediaries typically provide all marketing services for firms that do not wish to enter the foreign market and/or do not have the capability to do so. Companies relying on home-country intermediaries relinquish their control of the marketing mix to their distributors in the target-market foreign country. A company using intermediaries in the host-country is likely to have a presence there, in the form of a sales office or even a wholly-owned subsidiary. The company using a host-country intermediary also seeks to have a greater degree of control of the marketing mix in the target-market foreign country.

This is partially backed up by the fact that early grandfather clocks displayed IIII for the number 4 instead of IV. Early clockmakers apparently thought that the IIII balanced out the VIII (used for the number 8) on the clock face and that it just looked better.
