technology or invention can lead to changes in popular or material culture; diffusion refers to the spread of culture through a population; with conquest a conquered group can be forced to change its religion or other aspects of its culture; globalism leads to cultural diffusion.

Answer to Question 2

Oil was discovered in Africa which is the life blood of industrialized nations.
