The nurse is teaching a diabetic how much sugar is contained in soda. There are 12 cans of soda in a case. Each can of soda contains 16 ounces of fluid. Every 24 ounces of soda contains 1 cup of sugar.
 
  How many cups of sugar are in 3 cases of soda? Round the answer to the nearest whole number.

Determine how many tablets will be needed to give the following dose: Give 5 mg. Tablets are labeled 2.5 mg.

24 cups of sugar per 3 cases of soda.

Global Rationale: cups of sugar/3 cases of soda =1 cup sugar/24 ounces of soda x 16 ounces/1 can of soda x 12 cans/1 case x 3 cases/1 . Multiply the numerators (1 x 16 x 12 x 3 = 576). Multiply the denominators (24 x 1 x 1 x 1 = 24). 576/24 = 24 cups per 3 cases of soda.
