Organizational culture is a cognitive framework consisting of attitudes, values, behavioral norms, and expectations shared by the organization's members. At the root of any organization's culture is a set of core characteristics that are collectively valued by the members. First, organizations differ regarding their sensitivity to the needs of others. Second, organizations differ regarding their interest in having employees generate new ideas. Third, companies differ regarding the value placed on taking risks. Fourth, the value placed on people relates to whether employees are seen as being valuable only to the extent that they contribute to production, or whether they are treated well and motivated. Fifth, openness of available communization options pertains to the degree employees are expected to make decisions freely and communicate with whoever is needed to get the job done. Sixth, friendliness and congeniality exemplifies the relationships between employees, not only on the job but also outside of the workplace.
