Building powerful coalitions means developing a base of support through activities such as lobbying for support before major decisions/meetings or conducting elevator meetings. Blaming and attacking others can be accomplished by finding a scapegoat, someone who is made to take the blame for someone else's failure or wrongdoing. Associating with powerful others involves building coalitions with or ingratiating oneself to powerful people.
