Answer to Question 1

B

Answer to Question 2

There are three different approaches for doing appraisals. Employees can be appraised against 1. absolute standards, 2. relative standards, or 3. objectives. No one approach is always best; each has its strengths and weaknesses. The different steps undertaken for performance appraisals are 1. absolute standards, which means employees are not compared against any other person. Included are written essays, critical incidents, checklist, adjective rating scale, and behaviorally anchored rating scale. 2. Relative standards means employees are compared against other employees. There are two methods, group order ranking and individual ranking. 3. Objectives, which is management by objectives. Once you and your employee have established a set of tangible, verifiable and measurable goals that encompass the key results he/she is expected to achieve, you have a standard in place against which his/her performance can be assessed.
