o As a member of a regulatory group, they are accountable for the standards of practice set by their registering/licensing body.
o Members are educated to work within their scope and to recognize the limits of their scope of practice within health care.
o Include the following categories of nurses: registered nurses, nurse practitioners, registered psychiatric nurses (in Alberta, BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon), registered practical nurses (in Ontario), infirmires et infirmiers auxiliaires/nursing auxiliaries in Quebec, and licensed practical nurses in the rest of Canada.
o Unregulated care providers:
o May have some duties related to the direct care of patients/clients
o Job titles might reflect their role in direct care: e.g., personal support worker, health care assistant, health care aide
