Examples of specific nurse-related principles include: 1) monitoring policies and procedures; 2) delegating elements of care but not delegating the nursing process itself; 3) monitoring position descriptions for compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act; and 4) working with the State Board of Nursing as required. Monitoring the skill, education, and knowledge of NAPs (plus the stability of the patient) during a delegated task is a nursing responsibility and part of the delegation process.
