Answer to Question 1

3
Explanation: 1. The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) covers employees with serious illness, birth or
adoption, placement of a foster child, or care of a seriously ill child, spouse, or parent. The
employee must work for an organization that has 50 or more employees. The employee must
have worked for the organization for at least 12 months and worked at least 1,250 hours during
that 12-month period. An employee who has not been employed for 12 months or has not
worked enough hours in a 12- month period of time is not eligible for FMLA. An employee
who has worked for an organization with fewer than 50 employees is not eligible for FMLA.

Answer to Question 2

3
Explanation: 1. The manager may not assume that family obligations such as young children will affect job
performance. Inquiring about a previous job, contacting past employers, and professional goals
are appropriate questions to ask during a job interview. Contacting the past employer may be
the most predictive factor in employee reliability.
